About

Nice to meet you, I’m Tammy.

I’m the Brisbane based Surface Pattern Designer, Creative Educator, and Mentor behind Loopla. My world is a mix of colour and logic. While my designs are vibrant and playful, often inspired by nature, travel, everyday encounters, and play with my son, my approach to both my business and teaching is grounded in a logical perspective, influenced by my background in IT.

Bringing my technical background into my creative world has allowed me to help others in a way that feels very natural. I am often told by my students that I am a patient and kind teacher, and I think that comes from my ability to break down complex technical steps into clear, manageable pieces.

I believe creativity needs an encouraging space to grow. I provide technical assistance with Procreate and Adobe Illustrator, host community workshops at local libraries and creative venues, and offer one on one mentoring for artists and small business owners. I love being a cheerleader for my students and mentees, guiding them to become more confident and capable in their creative path, including everything from surface design to crochet.

Loopla is where my patterns find their home, both on my own products and through collaborations. You’ll often find me at Brisbane creative markets, where I love chatting with people about design and colour. My own product collection, including cotton tea towels, folding hand fans, and greeting cards, is designed to bring a splash of colour to the everyday.

Beyond my own shop, I love seeing my designs come to life on other products through licensing and commissions. My work has been recognised with industry awards, featured in the book Pattern Pulse (showcasing 100 of Australia’s top surface designers), and licensed for products like fashion through my wonderful partners.

I am a firm believer in building a business that is both heart led and environmentally conscious. When it comes to Loopla's product collection, I keep things simple and low impact by avoiding unnecessary packaging. Instead, I use minimal card based information to let the products speak for themselves.

I’d love to connect with you to find the perfect colourful gift, explore a new creative skill, grow your business, or collaborate on your next product range.
