If you have ever felt the frustration of watching a tutorial and still not quite getting it, you are not alone. If you are struggling with a pesky white line in a pattern or just feeling overwhelmed by the many buttons in Adobe Illustrator, sometimes you just need a real person to walk through the process with you.
I love helping creatives bridge those gaps. If you are looking for Procreate and Adobe Illustrator tuition Brisbane or online, or want to learn the foundations of repeat pattern design, here is everything you need to know about learning with Loopla.
Can I learn digital design and repeat pattern making at my own pace?
Absolutely. I do not believe in one size fits all learning. My sessions are entirely student led. We go at your pace, focusing only on the tools and techniques you actually need for your specific projects.
With a professional background of over 20 years in the IT industry, I bring a logical and systematic approach to every session. I love taking complex technical concepts and breaking them down into simple, manageable steps. There is no fluff and no rigid curriculum. I focus on the practical solutions you need to start creating with confidence, if you are just starting out or have some experience already.
What is your experience teaching digital art in the community?
I have been teaching digital art and pattern design since 2020. Over the years I have worked with a diverse range of students across South East Queensland and beyond. My background includes:
Working with Local Councils
Partnering with several Brisbane and Regional Councils to deliver community art and digital design programs.
Upskilling Educators in Procreate
Teaching teachers the technical skills and workflows required to bring Procreate into their own classrooms.
Workshops for Kids and Teens
Helping young creatives find their digital voice in a fun and supportive environment.
Support for students with specific learning needs
I am committed to making art and design accessible to everyone. I have extensive experience working with students who require a more tailored approach, including those who prefer:
Paced Learning: Breaking complex tasks down into small and manageable bits.
Support Person: You are more than welcome to have a support person join you during the session.
Quiet Environments: Sessions are held in a calm and quiet space to ensure a comfortable experience.
Can you help me with a specific creative project?
Yes. I love tailoring sessions to suit a particular goal you have in mind. I have worked with a wide variety of creatives to bring their specific visions to life. Some examples include:
Tattoo Artists: I have helped several tattoo artists learn Procreate from scratch, giving them the confidence to move their drawing process into a digital space.
Book Rebinding and Custom Covers: Designing professional layouts for book covers and preparing files for cutting machines like a Cricut.
Animations: Exploring the animation assist features in Procreate to bring your illustrations to life with movement.
Do you offer Procreate and Adobe Illustrator tuition in Brisbane or online?
I offer two ways to learn:
In Person Sessions (Brisbane): Join me for one on one or Friends and Family sessions near Annerley, Brisbane.
Online Tuition (Australia wide and International): Via Google Meet, we can screen share and solve problems in real time. This is perfect if you are outside of Brisbane or prefer the convenience of learning from home. Recordings of sessions are also provided.
Prefer learning in person rather than through a screen?
While online learning is convenient, I know that many people find technology a bit more approachable when there is a real person sitting right next to them. If you find it easier to ask questions as they pop into your head or if you simply prefer the hands on nature, my in person sessions in Brisbane are designed for you.
Being in the same room means I can see exactly where you might be getting stuck on your iPad or laptop, providing instant, tactile feedback that makes the learning process feel much more natural.
What specific skills can we cover in a tuition session or workshop?
My expertise covers both the digital and the traditional sides of design. Common topics include:
The foundations of how to create a repeat pattern by hand.
Learning the fundamentals for using Procreate.
Building seamless repeat patterns in Procreate and Adobe Illustrator.
Organising your portfolio for art licensing.
Mastering tools like the Pen Tool in Adobe Illustrator.
